'The Most Expensive Gif of All Time' Response

Michael Green had a really interesting idea in creating this digital image of the Balloon Dog (Orange) except melting. The question “what is art” is really interesting because in a way art can be anything. When it comes to digital art specifically it is very interesting because when it comes to it, all it really is is an image, or series of images. While Greens GIF has yet to sell there are thousands of other images being traded online. This new NFT craze is really interesting because instead of owning a physical object you own the right to a digital image that is in many ways intangible. Art is constantly evolving with the times and we have entered this digital age, therefore digital art is the logical next step. The idea of this $58.4 million piece of art being digitialized and depicted deflating is a perfect representation of this transition to digital art. I don’t think this change means that physical art is dead however. I think there is space in our world for both. Art doesn’t have to be expensive to be valid, I think it just has to make the viewer think or feel something. Almost anything could fit into that guide line. Digital art is a really interesting way for art to evolve because it seems like the possibilities are endless. Not everyone is good with a paintbrush or a pencil but if you have an idea in your head I think you can definitely learn how to create that on your computer.
